Sooo I feel really stupid, I was quite mistaken about Singapore’s government, guess I didn’t do my research well. There is a President AND a Prime Minister, and the President is mainly a figurehead while the Prime Minister (and the cabinet) wields the power. The president is popularly elected. The president appoints the Prime Minister, who is usu. the leader of the leading political...
So I’ve been “shortlisted” at the Doodle Room, up against 5 or 6 other people, but I only stand to make about $2000 a month. Le sigh.

Sentosa Sunday and Holland V Saturday
Instead of staying home and being boring, we decided to go to Sentosa today! (finally) It’s quite easy to get there: we take one bus to Vivo City, then we take a monorail from the mall to Sentosa, which only costs $3 round-trip. Sentosa has a lot of touristy stuff, like resorts and hotels, the Merlion, lots of beautiful garden/park/plaza type areas. There are also animal exibits or shows and...

Some hawker stall meals and fish head curry →
I had fish head curry and I ate the eye! It sounds kind of like a rite of passage but really it was not very exciting tasting- just bland and gelatinous. The curry was great though, and the most prized part of the fish head- the cheek- was soft and mild. Pictures to come. I’m really sad that my stint at the Yellow Octopus is over; everyone was really nice and we had some great meals....
Pictures! This is a good batch. :) →
Tonight we went to a Lantern Festival in the park behind our condo. I knew the park was there but I had never been into it- it’s beautiful! There is a pond, and lots of nice paths and benches and different trails. The pond has monitor lizards, I hope I get to see them! The Festival advertised free mooncakes and pomelos, but when we got there there was only some regular food left, which...
I know I haven't been posting a lot lately
but I literally haven’t been doing anything other than eating, napping, reading, wasting time online and taking medication. My head has been groggy and dizzy. But I feel pretty good today! Last night I even got back to job-hunting: it requires some focus you know, reading that corporate babble. I emailed another big ad agency. I have plans for drawing insects wearing glasses and I ate a...

FML part deux
Last night I was up all night feeling nauseous and feeling my heart beat way too rapidly. At six am I felt like I was dying again so we went back to the hospital. Turns out 24 hour clinic doesn’t mean all services are available at the same price for 24 hours, so I had to sit for an hour in the waiting room but I was first in line. The doctor said I was dehydrated and also decided to do some...

I had food poisoning this weekend, what did you...
So after trying to ride out what I thought was a stomach bug, I felt like my body was falling apart and I finally went to the doctor. I probably have food poisoning and now I have a have a cocktail of drugs to take. So my fever is down but I still feel like my stomach is full of angry fish. UGH.
So in the middle of the day today I fell ill…. it SUCKS. Fever and exhaustion ‘n stuff. But I ate some soup so I feel a little better. Earlier we ran some errands and got a few groceries and things from Ikea. Interesting tidbits: Stick deodorant is very hard to find and there are very few varieties. Paper here (which, have i mentioned it’s A4? I like A4!!!) is 2-hole-punched...

Monday September 6th
We mostly took it easy this weekend, which is probably a good thing. Friday, NYU threw another party, I guess to cap off the week. This one was even better than Monday’s because the food it catered had sort of a favorite-SIngaporean-dish theme going on. Which meant I was in heaven and Chris ate chicken and rice, lol. I ate a thing that was a piece of dough with whole shrimp embedded in it...

I forgot to mention that yesterday I had a tokyo-esque public transportation experience. I got on a bus that was packed full of people, and more people got on after me. I was standing right next to the windshield of the bus, which was terrifying, so I looked backwards. I wasn’t physically smashed up against the other people, it was just awkwardly close, with my American sense of personal...
